New Zealand service personnel, Afghanistan, and recent press activity: the RSA National President’s view
Afghanistan, and recent press activity: the RSA National President’s view
The RNZRSA has full confidence in the dedication and professionalism of our service personnel. The RNZRSA has always, and will always, support all of those who take the oath to serve New Zealand in our military.
It is not our place to comment on the operational issues of the NZDF. There will be a lot of people making calls and judgements and offering opinions about situations they weren’t involved in and probably don’t really understand. The role of the RNZRSA is to assist and work with the NZDF and Veterans’ Affairs in delivering help, care and support, to those current and former service personnel and their families who are in need.
While we cannot or will not comment on specific military actions, we know and understand the stressors encountered by those serving in our military. Whether on operational deployments or on routine service, we are assured that the men and women of the NZDF will do their best to resolve any situations they find themselves in. We are also aware of the pressures that military operations, and the discussions afterwards, places on the families of those who serve.
We are here today, as we have done for over 100 years, to make sure that our serving and ex-service men and women and their families, get the best support that New Zealand has to offer, and the best possible chances of life success.
