New training for RSA Local Support Advisors.
On Thursday 22 March 2018, a working group comprising of local, district and national RSA support staff, finalized the Statement of Principles (SOPs) User Course Level 1 for roll out.
This is to train Local Support Advisors in the use of SOPs when making applications to Veterans Affairs on behalf of injured and ill Returned and Service people.
The course is the first in the Support Services training framework being offered up to train Local Support Advisors in their expanded support role.
“The course is designed with new local support advisors in mind, to establish good practice from the very start of the process when making Veteran Affairs applications on behalf of a client.
This is to ensure that VA can process them quickly, without the need for additional information requests for documentation or evidence.
We also want them to be accepted without the need to go to review or appeal, which is where the requirements to meet the SOPs come in,” stated Danny Nelson, Senior Advisor to the RNZRSA.
The first course is expected to run before the end of the financial year to selected Local Support Advisors.
