RUSSELL CIVIC SERVICE AND ANCILLARY COMMEMORATIONS

1 Chapel Street, Russell

Service Persons assemble at the Russell RSA Premises, 1 Chapel Street, where they will be joined by the contingent from Paihia. 10.40 hours. March to the Russell Village Green located on the foreshore adjacent to the Cenotaph and fall-in in readiness for the Civic Service at 11.00 hours.

 

On conclusion the parade marches, followed by the citizens of our community to the Sacred Rock, commemorating all those who died in conflict in New Zealand (Maori / Pakeha) since 1845. Estimated time 11.45 hours.

 

Parade advances to Christ Church to commemorate the deaths of the British naval personnel who were from HMS HAZARD and were killed in the Battle of Kororareka in 1845. Estimated time 11.50 hours.

 

!2.00 hours the formal commemorations concludes, whereby the parade marches to return to the Russell RSA premises, dismissed and then joined by all community members who are invited to join in a post ANZAC social events inclusive of lunch at 13.00 hours and an afternoon of music and entertainment.
