ANZAC Bridge Commemoration Service

Thursday 25th April 2019
3600 State Highway 2 Kaiporoporo Mt Bruce, Eketahuna New Zealand

This is a community afternoon service with the combined active support of the Horizons and Masterton District Councils. Held at the Anzac Bridge Reserve, it is an informal service and the names on the bridge are remembered along with wreaths laid by family. After the service, we gather at Pukaha Mt Bruce for a cup of tea and chat. Supported with the 21 Sqn ATC Sqn guard, Ruamahanga Lions Club, local School choir and NZDF personnel. This bridge was built with local labour and funding in 1921 and has been a war memorial site ever since for the families of those named. The bridge has just been refurbished and a landscaping project for the native bush reserve area is underway with the Ruamahanga Lions Club amd Friends of the Anzac Bridge leading the rejuvenation.
