Remembering this Anzac Day my late Granddad Ray Clarke who shared with me his story of serving in Italy in WW2 and which will be passed onto his great grandchildren and late uncle Ray Parker RNZAF, and my ancestors James Clarke who served with the 6th Contingent in South Africa, Cyril and Paul Clarke who served in the Otago Mounted Rifles at Gallipoli, Edward Dillon in the Field Ambulance on the Somme and Norman Coote who served with the 32 Battalion, Australian Imperial Force and was killed at Passchendaele on 12 October 1917 and who lies in Flanders fields and is commemorated on Menin Gate to which we will pilgrimage in May. Ka maumahara tonu tatou ki a ratou. We will remember them. This Anzac Day also thinking of my partner's brother, uncles and aunties serving in the NZ Army both at home and overseas. Kia Kaha Whanau!
