The harrowing account of a young woman journalist’s experiences during the war in the Balkans from 1992 until post-war 2001.

Janine Do Giovanni put aside her own personal safety as she joined guerrilla units on both side of the conflict to get an understanding of what drove them to fight. In many cases the atrocities committed were neighbour on neighbour, cousins on cousins and were driven by a deep hatred of each others ethnic origins. The experiences of the civilian population can only be described as similar to the worst that were perpetrated by the forces of evil in World War Two.

Not a book for those who do not want to acknowledge the pure hatred of this conflict, described in the words of the day.
