This book takes an unusual approach to recording the service of two NZ
soldiers in the First World War. Based on the diaries of the two soldiers,
the author has cleverly mixed extracts from the diaries and letters of
the two infantrymen as they served on the Western Front from 1916 –
1919.
Told with grim reality, the book is a valuable personal account of the
horrors of trench warfare.
