The author has written on the life of her husband Maurice Nolan who serviced
in the NZ Army (Homeservice) during WWII. The book covers well the roles
of those who remained in NZ during the war, and provided essential defence
duties against the possibility of attack. Maurice spent most of his war
service with the heavy artillery batteries at Godley Head, near Christchurch.
Following the war he took up a career as Town Clerk for several Councils
around the North Island.
A good account of the valuable service provided by home service personnel
during WWII.
