The signal read, "Single Gun Ready" – the date
was 15 July 1965 - and with that, New Zealand’s seven-year
artillery contribution to the Vietnam War began.

into the programme of events that will continue through until September
2005.
Members of the RSA in the small Southland town of Otautau have
spent some time co-ordinating the restoration of two First World
War field artillery pieces that were presented to the local community
84 years ago.
During the National Executive Meeting at Wellington 17 May 2005,
RNZRSA National President John Campbell had great delight in passing
over a cheque for $30,228.30 to Lady Jocelyn Keith, National President
of the New Zealand Red Cross.
As the introduction to the RNZRSA Defence Policy statement points
out, the organisation is a primarily a welfare institution devoted
to meeting the needs of ex-service personnel.
