Re-Opening Your War Disablement Pension Application

If you have had a War Disablement Pension application declined you can always at a later stage ask the Secretary for War Pensions re-open your case. However, to be successful in having your case re-opened you will need to provide sufficient evidence in the way of affidavits or medical records or photographs from the correct era to show that your case should be re-opened. Just asking for the case to be re-opened will not bring about the desired effect.

Also please remember that if your case is re-opened it will be looked at as a fresh application from the date of receipt of your request for re-opening, and NOT from when you originally applied for that particular disability. Re-opening does not mean that you will definitely receive a War Disablement Pension, but it does mean that your case will start again at a Claims Panel, and you have the same rights of review and appeal as any other applicant.
