Older Persons Driving Tests

Are you coming up to one of those birthdays, 80, 82, 84 etc when you have to take your driving test again?

There have been a few reports that examiners are not treating the older driver with sufficient courtesy. If you believe that you have been badly treated by your driving examiner you should complain, in the first instance to the Agency running your Testing Centre, and if you receive no joy from them, then you should go to the LTSA.

You can obtain a Complaint Form from the Testing Centre, but if you are unable to get one, or forgot to pick one up you can write a letter. You will need to give all the details of yourself, the examiner – including his/her name and registration number. The date, time and location of the test and details of what happened that brought about the complaint. Neither the Testing Agency nor the LTSA can do anything about bad examiners unless you make a proper complaint. Remember, don’t grouse to your spouse, partner or friends, and make a formal complaint to the right person.
