How RSA Helps

RSA assistance ranges from monetary grants for those in financial difficulty, to help with practical tasks, visiting the sick, meals-on-wheels, and offering friendship and support in times of need.

The Welfare Officer at any local RSA is the first point of contact for all welfare services enquiries. The Welfare Officer has a good knowledge of all the current pension and benefit provisions available through Government agencies; of where assistance can be obtained to solve problems from within the local community; and of sources of assistance administered by RNZRSA.

Confidentiality is assured for all enquiries.

Monetary grants are made in times of need by both local RSAs and RNZRSA.

Grants from RNZRSA are derived from Welfare Trust Funds to which restrictions apply according to the Trust Deeds of each fund. A demonstration of ‘need’ must accompany every application.

Practical help is also available for those requiring assistance.

This ranges from visiting the sick in hospital, to providing assistance with transport, and offering friendship and support in times of need.

Other Agencies likely to be able to assist the ex-service community include:

Many more local agencies and community groups will also be familiar contacts of RSA Welfare Officers. Contact a local Welfare Officer to find help.
