Year of the Veteran

In recognition of the 90th Anniversary of the RNZRSA the New Zealand Government designated 2006 as the ‘Year of the Veteran', a year in which New Zealand communities had the opportunity to commemorate and honour the sacrifice and service of New Zealand's servicemen and women.

Certificates of Appreciation and Badge
Certificates of Appreciation and Lapel Badges are available to anyone who served in the New Zealand Armed Forces in a recognised war or emergency.

Commendations
The 'Year of the Veteran' Commendations are a way of recognising members of the community who have voluntarily undertaken activities for the benefit and support of veterans.

Community Grants Fund
The ‘Year of the Veteran’ Community Grants Fund has been set up to assist local communities to provide ways of recognising the ex-servicemen and women in their community, through community-based projects.
