RSA Welfare Services

RSA is one of the largest voluntary welfare organisations in New Zealand.

Above all the RSA movement is committed to ensuring that every ex-serviceman and woman receives the pensions and other benefits to which they are entitled, whether or not they are members of a Returned Services’ Association. To meet this obligation, the RNZRSA and local RSAs spend $1.4 million annually on welfare for New Zealand’s war veterans and their families.

Advice about war pension entitlements and assistance in making applications for War Veterans and War Disability Pensions is readily available from Welfare Officers appointed by each local RSA and at National Headquarters in Wellington. RNZRSA also has a representative on each of the War Pensions Claims Panels operating throughout New Zealand, and can provide an advocacy service for pensioners taking claims to appeal.

Communities throughout New Zealand benefit from the sense of responsibility for fellow citizens that the RNZRSA has made a primary object to cultivate in its members. Local RSAs demonstrate their commitment to this principle in a great variety of ways from the provision and distribution of meals for the elderly, to hospital visiting and offering friendship and support to all in times of need.
