Public Notice: Viet Nam Veterans & Families -Consultation on Agent Orange and Other Concerns
Following the report of the Health Select Committee in 2004, the Government accepted that New Zealand service men and women were exposed to a toxic environment (including Agent Orange) during their service in Viet Nam. The Government established a Joint Working Group to make recommendations on a package of measures to address the health and well being needs of Viet Nam Veterans and their families.

Medals an Overview of Progress
In 1995 the government conducted a comprehensive review of the New Zealand honours system. The Prime Minister's Honours Advisory Committee reported to Mr Bolger recommending the institution of a distinctive New Zealand Royal Honours System.
Broadly, the effect would be to replace the earlier “British” or “Imperial” system with a purely New Zealand system. The system was also to be considerably simplified.
